MODESTO, CA (October 2025) - "Modesto's 150th Anniversary"

Design captures Modesto, California from an architectural and cultural perspective using colorful vignettes weaved together to create a visually captivating mural to celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary (founded in 1870). Inspired by historic places such as McHenry Mansion, Hawkes Castle, Dry Creek Bridge, Southern Pacific Railroad, State Theater, and the Gallo Center for the Arts (to name a few), it is the Modesto Arch and its curved sweeping lines that tie together the highlights of the city’s iconic landmarks and history. The overarching style draws from mid-century modern architecture combined with Modesto’s culture, paying specific homage to Chief Estanislao as well as Folkorico dance. Furthermore, the selected color palette creates an engaging and captivating representation of Modesto’s geography, climate, and cultural diversity.
