"Generations" mural, Hillsborough Community College - Ybor City Campus, Tampa, FL (July 2023) Mural highlights the college's academic offerings and the rich & diverse history of the Ybor City community. This 2000+ square foot immersive mural showcases the educational programs including firefighting, law enforcement academy, automotive technology, welding, and dance to name a few. These images are weaved together against the backdrop of Ybor which was once the cigar capital of the world in the early 1900’s as a result of the Cuban, Spanish, and Italian immigrants, notably Jose Marti and Vicente Martinez Ybor who founded the city and brought economic prosperity. Red brick architecture, lampposts, cigars, trolleys, flamenco dancers of the era combined with the colors of the Ybor City flag create a vibrant backdrop for students and visitors to the campus.
